As you all know, May 11th is Eric's birthday.Last year it was a challenge for me to put a celebration together for the birthday of an iconic man reaching the milestone age of seventy.
There were lots of ideas and thoughts and plans. Eric was having none of it, stating during an impatient moment that "there is nothing to celebrate when you reach a certain age."
Well, I challenged that statement by putting together a private celebration for his 70th birthday at Rim Rock Ranch -- at the very last minute. He was sincerely overwhelmed and humbled by the distance some travelled to participate, and by the many nice words he heard. He and everyone present had a blast! Check out the video!
This year, I heard a similar refrain about his 71st birthday. I respected his desire to mark the occasion quietly, but the momentum of those around him won him over. We stayed close to home and celebrated throughout the weekend with dear friends and family.
Well, then, what about next year ? ? ?
What do you think? Let's all get together and celebrate -- with him, and for him -- as he marks another year making great music on this earth! Stay tuned! -- Peace, Marianna
P.S. I would like to share with you a few snapshots from this past weekend. Enjoy! Also, be on the look out for the video compilation of your birthday greetings to Eric -- coming soon.
